I think I am a pretty decent person, as a matter of fact, I may give you the shirt off of my back because you are supposed to love your brothers and sisters.
I do a few good things for my brothers and sisters I will give/loan you money when others won’t, I will give you a ride to where you wanted to go, and a number of other things. But I guess I really do not love my brothers and sisters as I should.
The way I treat people is the way I want people to treat me, and that is how I saw life. But you cannot honestly call that love. When I say brothers and sisters, I am referring to neighbors. Jesus’s second greatest command is – Mark 12:31 NIV – 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
I never really loved my neighbors, as I loved myself, I would help them and minister to them if I could, and I guess I thought that was love. My wife is deceased now, but I am wondering did I give her real true love. Or did I give our children real true love, more than likely I did not?
From looking at the state of this country today, I am not the only one who is not loving my neighbors. There is so much envy, jealousy, and hate in this world that it is scary. I knew people like me were useless sinners, but what about the people who claim they love their neighbors, are they just fooling themselves.
The truth is we are so in love with what the world has to offer, that we have become disobedient to Jesus’s commandments. We allow things to happen that we know are ungodly, all because we don’t want to make the world mad, and lose all of our earthly pleasures, which we dearly love more than our neighbors.
If all of the Christian in the United States got together and started really loving our neighbors, you would see a drastic change immediately. There would be so much love on this planet that even the hateful sinners would change and start loving their brothers and sisters too.
The hearts and minds we were born with make it very strenuous for us to really love our neighbors. Because our hearts and minds are of this world and spiritual things and worldly things do not work well together. Here are some spiritual words from the bible to know – Romans 12:2 NIV – 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. You renew your mind by seriously reading and studying the Bible daily.
Love is when someone who is your brother or sister, does a bad thing to someone else who is also your brother or sister, you take immediate action to resolve the issue ASAP, and not months, years, decades, and/or never. But it takes love to do such a thing and remember we don’t have very much love for our neighbors. But we will not admit that love is missing from our lives.
I do not know what it is going to take for us to really start loving our neighbors, but I do know we are not there yet. When you discover what love is, you will see you are not loving your neighbors and probably no one else either.
According to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV – 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hope, and always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. I am seriously working on myself now.
