This post “overcoming Satan’s schemes with scripture” is based on information from Ephesians 6:11-17 NIV.
When someone does or says something that upsets you, especially if it is not Godly, you automatically get upset with that person.
Ephesians 6:11-17 NIV * Put on the whole armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. The struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the whole armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness from the gospel of peace. Plus, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Finally, take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
You forgot to realize it was not the person who upset you; it was Satan controlling that person’s mind. You should pray for that person instead of getting angry with them because Satan wants you to get mad so that he can control your mind too.
The Rulers – are people exercising government or dominion over other people, and Satan has control of their minds. The Authorities – are people or organizations in charge, and Satan has control of their minds too.
The Powers of this dark world are satanic spiritual beings whose purpose is to mislead Godly and Ungodly people. The spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms operate in a place between Heaven and Earth.
When you become a believer, Satan’s evil spirits come after you. They are trying to convince you it is OK to continue doing the sins you used to do, but you know better, for this is about overcoming Satan’s schemes with scripture. Ephesians 6:13 explains what you have to do to protect your mind.
Ephesians 6:14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. Train yourself constantly to be truthful and always tell the truth, so when Satan tells you a lie or tries to make you tell a lie, you will not believe his trickery.
The breastplate of righteousness means you always try to do what is right and pleasing to God. You already know what is right and wrong from Adan and Eve’s lesson learned from eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge.
The gospel of peace comes from studying the word of God. If you have the gospel of peace, you will be ready for any inconvenience Satan brings your way. Peace is a gift from God, and He will give you peace when you get to know Him personally.
The shield of faith is a must; without it, you cannot fulfill your obligation to God; you must believe that he exists and will do all he said He would do. Your confidence and trust in God are how you show your faith, and without faith, you cannot please God. In addition, your faith can extinguish Satan’s attacks on your mind.
Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Faith is the only system of perception devoid of human merit. Only the object has value, and in salvation, the thing of faith is Our Lord Jesus Christ. No one has ever been saved by asking Jesus to come into his heart or life.
The sword of the Spirit is the word of God which is in the bible. This tool is handy whenever Satan attacks you, so it is a good idea to get to know God’s word. You have to study God’s word so you will not forget His word when Satan starts messing with your mind.
